Italian Amnesias: Multidimensional Forgetting in Contemporary Italy

Stefano Bellin and Guido Bartolini are delighted to announce the publication of issue 42.2 of Italian Culture, entitled “Italian Amnesias: Multidimensional Forgetting in Contemporary Italy”. This special issue aims to map the construction of social forgetting in Italy’s cultural and public debates, explore its consequences throughout the decades, and identify attempts to counter it through forms of critical interaction that foster transcultural solidarity and responsibility. While the issue focuses mostly on the Italian cultural context, it offers concepts that might be useful for memory studies scholars working on other regions and cultures.
