Programme: Jornada testimonio

This international workshop aims at investigating the role of testimony in contemporary Latin American literary and artistic production. While during the twentieth century the region contributed in various and important ways to what Annette Wieviorka baptized “the era of the witness”, the first two decades of the twenty-first century have brought about a number of important formal and thematic mutations in the ways in which the witnessing of extreme violence is expressed. Through an informal setting meant to foment open discussion, speakers and respondents will explore new tendencies within the genre, link back to its historical transformations, and outline roads for further investigation.
